Rohan and Phil are joined by Aaron (bachya) to discuss 0.70, and Aaron's various uses of Home Assistant.
  • 0.70
    • New Platforms
      • New components for HomeaticIp Cloud, including binary sensors for shutters and motion. Power switches (including those that measure power) and light switches that measure light levels.
      • Facebox facial and number recognition. https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/pull/14356
      • SpaceAPI. Allows hacker spaces to expose details about co-working locations
      • Samsung Familyhub Refrigerator Camera Component
      • Konnected Component. Konnected is an open source application that runs on a NodeMCU ESP8266. Konnected develops hardware designed for connecting traditional wired alarm system sensors and sirens to home automation.
      • FinTS Sensor – Allows Home Assistant to read information about bank accounts that implement the FinTS/HBCI standard. Mainly used for German banks
    • Breaking Changes
      • Custom UI – There’s a lot of refactoring going on in the front end at the moment. If you’re using custom UI components for Home Assistant, check to ensure they’re still compatible before upgrading.
      • SABNZD has been moved away from a sensor to its own component. If you’re using this, you’ll need to update your configuration. https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant/pull/12915
      • BMW Connected Drive has some breaking changes. There’s a whole bunch of new sensors such as charging status for electric vehicles, parking light status etc.
      • Simplepush.io notification platform has been removed. They’re no longer online or available from the app stores.
      • Darksky Sensor – Dark Sky API has deprecated temperatureMin, temperatureMax, apparentTemperatureMin, and apparentTemperatureMax
    • Noteworthy Features
      • Unique IDs supported for MQTT switches
      • Roku media players now have support for entity IDs via the Entity registry! Thanks Aaron!
      • Support for Zigbee pressure sensors
      • Bulgarian language added to Google TTS
      • Homekit support for Fans
      • Homekit – if your alarm panel or lock requires a code to lock or unlock, that can now be specified in your Home Assistant config
      • Rainmachine updates from Aaron.
